Avril Lavigne turned a family-friendly day at a baseball game into an R-rated performance, when the singer lost her cool and spit out some nasty profanities while performing. The Tampa Bay Rays had to apologize to fans, after Lavigne spilled an expletive-filled rant heard by over 24,000 people at Tropicana Field. Taking the stage after the Rays 7-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Saturday, the singer encountered some technical issues with her microphone, which led to "booing" from the crowd. A frustrated Lavigne then went off on a tirade, saying that the sound problem "f*cking happens on a baseball field."
After the glitch was fixed, the 26-year-old "What the Hell" apologized to the crowd and tried to make things better as she performed. "We just had so much fun tonight and we want to take the tirade out and say thank you to the Tampa Bay Rays!" she told the baseball fans. "I'm truly sorry if anyone was offended by my language."But a spokesperson for the Tampa Bay baseball club wasn't too forgiving.
"The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers, and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night's show," the rep said in a statement. "It is not consistent with the atmosphere that Tropicana Field is known for."No matter how old Avril Lavigne gets, she still seems to always act like a rebellious teenager. She's been in this business long enough to conduct herself with a tad more professionalism than cursing at the crowd.
